Join us on 10 July for an Action Syria Supper at Imad’s Syrian Kitchen!
We’re marking a decade of our work and the launch of Action Syria by tucking into a whole heap of falafel, and we’d love to see you there.
All profits will go towards Action Syria’s work, making it a truly delicious way to help us make sure Syrian communities have access to the education and medical services they need.
Until 2012, Imad Alarnab ran three restaurants in Damascus, along with a number of juice bars and cafes. Then, within the space of just six days they were all destroyed.
In 2015, he left his home country, his wife and his three daughters in search of a safer, better life. He arrived in the UK in 2015 with just £12, following a perilous journey through Europe, smuggled across borders inside lorries to Calais, where he slept for 64 days on the steps of a church, and cooked for his fellow refugees, feeding up to 400 people in one go.
Since, he’s been reunited with his family, worked as a car washer, run supper clubs, pop-up falafel bars, and in 2021 found a permanent home for his celebrated kitchen in Kingly Court, Carnaby Street. We’re delighted to be joining him there, to hear more about his story and feast on hummus, falafel and baba ghanoj on 10 July.
Having started our charity with a series of supper clubs at our kitchen table, it only feels right to return to our roots to mark both a decade of our work and a new chapter as Action Syria, with someone as inspiring as Imad (we can guarantee his falafel will be better than ours!).
We really hope to see you there. Get your tickets here.
