We are always ready to act quickly when emergency strikes, whether that’s an earthquake, disease outbreak or conflict.
We have strong relationships with partners in the area, which means we can respond quickly and get help to the people who need it.
The earthquakes which hit Syria and Turkey in 2023 left people who had already endured 12 years of conflict without family members, schools, healthcare, and homes. While the immediate crisis response has ended, the emergency isn’t over, and it will take years to fix the damage. Today, 16.7 million people in Syria need humanitarian assistance.
Since the earthquakes, we’ve been working with our partners to deliver crucial medical equipment and health services to vulnerable communities. For orphans and infants whose mothers can’t breastfeed, we supplied baby formula. We also delivered psychological support and gave cash assistance to families who lost everything. Our collaboration with our partners on the ground means we can swiftly deliver aid where it’s needed the most. To read more about our response, please see our programme report from July 2023 and January 2024.
