Hands Up Foundation is now Action Syria

Support Action Syria's BBC Radio 4 Appeal!

We’re on the radio sharing about our vital work restoring education and enabling opportunities for Syrian children.

After more than a decade of conflict and displacement, many Syrian families are returning home — but for children, access to education remains fragile.

Your support can help Syrian children return to safe and welcoming learning spaces, where they will access the education and support they need.

Donations to Action Syria via the link below must be made between Sunday 8 March - Saturday 14 March.

Restoring education. Enabling opportunities. So that Syrian children can learn, thrive and shape their own futures.

Education has the power to change lives, even in the most difficult circumstances. For Syrian children who have grown up through conflict and displacement, restoring education is about more than just getting back to the classroom – it is the opportunity to shape their own futures.

Between 8-14 March, you can make a real difference for Syrian children by supporting our BBC Radio 4 appeal. Tune in as actor Toby Jones shares the story of eleven-year-old Limar, a student in rural Damascus who is now learning in a safe and supportive classroom, after years of disruption.

The appeal will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 7.54am and 9.25pm on Sunday 8 March, as well as 3.27pm on Thursday 12 March. It will also be available on BBC Sounds from 8 March.

Your support could help us restore access to education where it’s needed most — transforming lives one child, one classroom, and one community at a time.

Donations to Action Syria via the link below must be made between Sunday 8 March – Saturday 14 March.

Limar's Story: Feeling safe at school helped Limar enjoy learning again

As part of our appeal, Toby Jones shares the powerful story of eleven-year-old Limar.

After years of displacement, Limar returned home to rural Damascus in early 2025. She was excited about going back to school, but like thousands of schools across Syria, Limar’s school was damaged and unsafe.

With Action Syria’s support, her school was restored — and today, Limar is studying in a safe, supportive classroom once again – learning with confidence and shaping her own future.

Donations to Action Syria via the link below must be made between Sunday 8 March – Saturday 14 March.

All donations to Action Syria’s BBC Radio 4 Appeal will be used where the need is greatest, supporting all our work with Syrian communities across education, healthcare, and emergency response.
