Hands Up Foundation is now Action Syria

Hands Up Becomes Action Syria

Action Syria: the new name of Hands Up Foundation

Hands Up Foundation has changed its name to Action Syria.

We’ve changed our name to better reflect the work we do and highlight our mission: to work with local partners to make sure Syrian communities have the medical care and education they need, every day and when emergencies strike.

We don’t often show our faces on camera, but here we are to talk to you about Action Syria.

We started at our kitchen table in 2012 with a series of supper clubs, and have grown into a registered charity supporting tens of thousands of Syrians each year.

Last year, we asked you how we could improve our work. You told us that having separate names for our fundraising initiatives (i.e. Singing for Syrians, Syrian Supper Club) was confusing. It makes it all too easy to attend an event and love it, but leave uncertain of the link to Hands Up and how to support us. There was also a clear indication that supporters wanted to see Syria more prominently in our name and branding.

While we hope for a world in which our work is no longer needed, the emergency is not over. 16.7 million people in Syria need humanitarian aid. Though our name is changing, our mission and work remain the same. We are committed to providing medical care and education to Syrian communities. This name change is the best way of telling new audiences what we are all about.

Frequently asked questions about our rebrand

Why are you changing the name of the charity?

We decided to rebrand to better reflect our mission and streamline our message. After receiving valuable feedback from our supporters, we realised our previous branding wasn’t straightforward and didn’t adequately emphasise our focus on Syria.

Why Action Syria as the name?

“Action Syria” was chosen to highlight our commitment to our Syrian friends and mission; working with local partners to make sure Syrian communities have the medical care and education they need, every day and when emergencies strike.

How does Syrian Supper Club and Singing for Syrians fit into the new brand?

As part of the change, we’re rebranding our separate fundraising initiatives:

Don’t worry, the events you know and love aren’t going anywhere!

How will the rebranding affect ongoing projects and initiatives?

The rebranding will not affect our ongoing projects and initiatives. We will continue our work uninterrupted, as per our mission.

Will this impact my donations or sponsorship?

No, the rebrand will not affect your donations or sponsorship. Your support remains crucial to our mission, and we are deeply grateful for your continued generosity. You can donate here and learn more about sponsorship here.

Can I still volunteer or get involved with the charity under the new name?

Absolutely! Action Syria would love to hear from you. Your support is more important than ever as we continue to address the growing humanitarian needs in Syria and its neighbouring countries. Learn more about volunteering here.
