On Thursday, 5 September, we’re inviting you to a special event at a vineyard in Hampshire. The Slow Cyclist and The Grange are partnering to host this unique fundraiser in support of Action Syria and the work we do to help make sure Syrian communities have the medical care and education they need, every day and when emergencies strike.
Set in the picturesque surroundings of The Grange Vineyard & Winery in Hampshire, the event promises an unforgettable experience, featuring a three-course dinner prepared by Imad Alarnab, the acclaimed chef behind Imad’s Syrian Kitchen in London. Guests will also enjoy The Grange’s award-winning wines, sampled among the vines before dinner.
The evening will feature talks from key figures, including Imad Alarnab, who will share his remarkable journey from war-torn Damascus to becoming a celebrated chef in London. His story of resilience and passion for cooking has inspired many, and his presence at the event is set to be a highlight.
Oli Broom, the founder of The Slow Cyclist, is hosting the event: “This supper is a special collaboration between The Slow Cyclist, The Grange, and Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, all to support Action Syria. We’ll enjoy fine wine, delicious food, and most importantly, raise money for a great cause.
“Action Syria is a charity we began supporting in the aftermath of the February 2023 earthquake in Turkey and Syria. We want to raise money from the event to support their ongoing humanitarian work in the region.
The money raised from this event will go directly to Action Syria’s ongoing efforts, including helping those impacted by the February 2023 earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
Rose Essam, the CEO of Action Syria, said: “This event shows how people can come together to make a positive difference for Syrian communities. The escalating situation in the Middle East threatens to destabilize the region further, and it is those who are most at risk who will be hit the hardest. Already in Lebanon, where 1.5 million Syrian refugees live in extreme hardship, rising tensions with Lebanese citizens have led to evictions and deportations, despite UN warnings that Syria remains unsafe for return.
“The funds we raise will make a big difference to the lives of Syrian families who have been through so much (from war to displacement and natural disaster). It will help us continue to teach 200 Syrian refugee children in Lebanon, provide vital healthcare to a community of 50,000 people in north-east Syria, and deliver prosthetics to amputees in north-west Syria.
“We’re so grateful to everyone involved for their support. It means the world, particularly when Syria’s crisis falls further from our headlines and awareness.”
The special Slow Supper takes place on Thursday 5 Sep, 6 PM – 11 PM at The Grange Vineyard & Winery, Hampshire. Tickets are more information can be found here.
