We’re over the moon to announce that Pooky and Hands Up have collaborated. What fantastic news for a bumpy start to the year!
Lamp & lampshade designer, Pooky, create beautiful and decorative lighting, on-trend and high-quality. With loyal followers (called Pooksters!) and previous collaborations such as Matthew Williamson, we are extremely grateful (and flattered) to be teaming up with this incredible team.
The lampshades – Amira, Sama and Selene – are available to buy now on the Pooky website and 30% of proceeds will go directly to Hands Up. So, by buying one of these vibrant and reasonably priced lampshades you’re not only lighting up your sitting room (there’s no better time while you’re stuck indoors!), but you’re also helping someone in need. It really is a win-win. The money raised from sales will go towards urgent funding to support our school in Lebanon and primary health clinic in north-east war-torn Syria. Both are ‘home’ to so many displaced refugees, many of whom are children. As one Hands Up supporter aptly puts it: we’re “literally spreading light in this darkness.” However, this partnership isn’t just about Syrian conflict and disaster, it’s about celebrating and recognising Syria’s ancient and rich culture. Something that is often forgotten amidst the chaos of Syria’s last ten years. As Pooky’s founder, Rohan Blacker, says:
“Pooky has designed a range of stunning shades based on the extraordinarily colourful geometric tile designs that graced the walls of mosques and hammams in medieval times in Damascus and other cities. We are thrilled about how they have come out. They look fabulous.”
This has always been Hands Up’s aim and the idea behind everything we do: gather people together, remind them of Syria’s rich culture and do something good. We think we’ve achieved this with this extraordinary range of shades, we hope you do too. Visit www.pooky.com and see for yourself!
We are always looking for creative ways to bring aid to Syria as well as celebrate its beautiful art, culture, and heritage. If you have any ideas you’d like to share with us on future collaborations, then please do get in touch at contact@actionsyria.org.uk, we’d love to hear from you.
