Hands Up Foundation to change name to better reflect its unwavering commitment to Syrian communities.
To mark ten years since we began, The Hands Up Foundation (Hands Up) has embarked on a rebranding journey.
We started at our kitchen table in 2012, with a series of supper clubs to raise money for Syrians. Since, we have evolved and grown into a registered charity, supporting tens of thousands of Syrians each year.
Back then, we felt making a difference to even one life was an incredible achievement. To see where we are now is double-edged; devastating that aid remains in such demand, but reassuring to know we have done, and continue to do, all we can to address these needs. To every single one of you who has supported our mission, we cannot thank you enough.
Over the years we have run an incredible number of fundraising initiatives and events, including Singing for Syrians (carols) and Syrian Supper Clubs. Your support at each turn has blown us away. Yet, when we started this journey, we were far from branding experts, and we hear you when you say that these different names are confusing. It’s all too easy to go to a Syrian Supper Club and not know it’s run by Hands Up. How do you then support the charity?
You also told us you wanted to see Syria more prominently in our name and branding. It’s at the center of everything we do, so it should be in our name.
When we see a problem, we like to find a solution. Enter our rebrand!
Rose Essam, CEO, says: “As we approach the decade mark, we’re taking stock of the shifting fundraising landscape and adapting to the times with a rebrand. This change reflects our ongoing commitment to Syrian communities facing conflict, displacement and natural disaster, even as the global focus on Syria fades.
“We’ve been listening closely to your feedback, and we’re so grateful for your incredible support. We can’t wait to reveal our new name and keep working together to make a difference to Syrian families and children.”
We will be launching our new brand on 5 April 2024. Thank you to everyone who has given their time and provided feedback. Make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter and follow us on social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X) to be the first to see our new name and brand.
